Difficulty at the beginning works supreme success through perseverance. Nothing should be undertaken — it furthers one to appoint helpers.

The Image (象)

Clouds and thunder: the image of Difficulty at the Beginning. The superior person brings order out of confusion.

Meaning

A new beginning is struggling to emerge, like a seedling pushing through hard soil. Confusion and challenge mark the start of something important.

Advice

Don't rush. The beginning is always hardest. Seek help, stay organized, and trust that the difficulty is temporary. The seed will sprout.
